Recent advances in digital cameras have “suddenly” made it possible to provide full simultaneous visibility of welding arc, puddle and the surrounding metal.   The Visible Welding camera system is designed from the ground-up to capture the complete arc welding scene – even the welding tip or robot arm.

Arc welding has been long considered the most difficult photographic problem because of the tremendous range of light – the arc light can be several million times as bright as the bead and base metal just an inch or two away.

To achieve the required dynamic range of 4,000,000 to 1, Visible Welding has combined advanced techniques in optics, electronics and real-time image processing.   None of these disciplines could solve the problem alone – it requires an inter-disciplinary approach.   Of course, an inter-disciplinary approach requires an inter-disciplinary team, and the team behind Visible Welding is without equal – please take a look at our team page.

CAMERAS COMING IN  2009

We are in development – cameras will be coming in 2009.   Of course, we’ll be posting more details on this site as we announce specifics.   The basic machine is a powerful tablet computer which uses different digital “imaging heads” to gather the information.

Imaging head resolutions include 640x480, 1024x768, monochrome and color.
