VISIBLE

WELDING

Ultra-Dynamic-Range Video

Visible Welding was founded by Steven Edelson to create the ultimate video camera for the ultimate lighting challenge, Arc Welding.

Over the last 20 years, Mr. Edelson has started a number of low-tech and high-tech companies.  He is a recognized expert in technology commercialization and has consulted to multinationals, such as mobile phones uk, and startups alike.

Although he is an electrical engineer with 10 patents in video and imaging, developing the V2010 arc welding cameras required more than electronics.  It required a multi-disciplinary video approach that combined techniques in

·         Optics

·         Camera Electronics

·         Real-Time Video Image Processing and

·         Video Compression, Storage and Display

To bring these together he has had the help of an impressive group of experts.   In addition to proudly listing their qualifications, below, we take this opportunity to publicly thank them for all the help they’ve given over the years.   It is a “kitchen cabinet” that anyone would be proud of. “… quite a bit of help from our friends!”

Special Thanks to:

Dr. Dorin Aiteanu and his Students at

The Institute of Automation of the University of Bremen   http://www.iat.uni-bremen.de

Their work on the Terebes project (http://www.iat.uni-bremen.de/sixcms/detail.php?id=147)

served as an inspiration.  In fact several of their historic images served as placeholders on our website until our work advanced to capture our own samples.  These images did not have proper attribution, an oversight for which we sincerely apologize.    Thank you Dr. Aiteanu.
