Description

The V2010 video system is specially designed to work in the blinding light of arc and laser welding.  With a dynamic-range of 1,000,000:1, the camera can capture both arc light and metal without the need for special spot-darkening filters.  Filters constrain the camera placement and can be time-consuming to adjust.   Without these filters, the V2010 is quick to setup and move during process design or debug.  Video can be viewed live or digitally recorded at the full dynamic range for later analysis or archiving.

Ultra-Dynamic-Range (UDR) is the key to effective welding images.  A welding arc can be a million times brighter than the metal below.  This is a thousand times the range of high-end industrial cameras.   Even specialty high-dynamic-range (HDR) cameras only reach 50,000:1, far short of the task.   To image arc welding you need UDR at 1,000,000:1 (120dB).

The V2010 reaches UDR levels by combining an HDR camera with powerful digital signal processing.   Each amplifies the range of the other resulting in a dynamic-range far greater than either can reach alone.

This processing requires much more computing power than can fit inside a camera so the V2010 adds a powerful laptop to do the job.   In addition to the image processing, the laptop controls the camera and forms the hub of the V2010, providing a screen, keyboard and disk storage for UDR video.

Included as part of the V2010 product, the laptop is pre-programmed to boot up ready to run; just plug in the camera and go.
